For some reason, unexplained, today, these images are bringing me back in time. To a place where I was many years ago now. I loved being pregnant and thinking back, I can’t believe how long ago that was already. I know it’s said, over and over, many many times, but time does truly fly by. Take the time, create these memories, have them documented so that when you are in my shoes, many years from where you may be right at this moment….you will have images, to look at, to cherish….to never forget.

I will be coming up to Yellowknife in about a month and am offering up a few sessions while I’m there.  Space will be limited.  Availability will be between July 3 & July 12.  One good thing…there will lots of light!

I must admit I’m looking forward to the daylight.  Besides family and friends, I think that is the one thing that I do miss about Yellowknife (’cause I’m not gonna lie, there are a lot of things that I do not miss lol!).  All that light in the summer…..soon enough I will be living it. (along with all the mosquitos! ACK lol)

I’m only up in the good ‘ol North every couple years so if you’ve ever considered a session with me….now is your chance.  We’ll experience the unlimited light and bugs together!

I just have to say that words, not even the images can describe how truly amazing it was to be there to witness the birth of my niece Emry, as well as the love between my sister (Tamara) and Jeff.  I could go on and on trying to tell you, but for now I’ll just let you watch and hopefully I’ve captured this in a way to at least show a little bit of the emotion filled, miraculous day.

The show is set to music so make sure you turn up your speakers.

WARNING There are some shots that do show more than you might be expecting to see.  ahem hahaha.  Honestly though, I must admit that the doctors arms and bodies were quite strategically placed to allow for viewing without seeing too many details. lol  There are only about 4 shots of the whole show and the images are small enough that you really don’t see anything….at least to me lol.  So there, you’ve had your warning, but please do watch.

Because I’ve been working on the site and blog for so long, I’ve been horrible at actually posting anything.  In January, Bonnie Horseman, an amazing photographer and truly awesome friend of mine from Virginia flew to Canada to come and see me!  We met online 8 years ago when I was pregnant with my son and she was pregnant with her first daughter.  Somehow we both ended up becoming photographers and finally met last year at the WPPI conference in Vegas.  We had tons of fun doing a maternity session for her.  So the way it works when one photographer shoots another photographer is that the one shooting typically gets to do whatever they want!  I knew I had to do something fabulous and DIFFERENT!!  So I wanted to add a boudoir feel to the images….only thing is we didn’t shoot in a bedroom.  So we got up bright and early so she could go and have her hair and make-up done and then we drove a couple hours out to a little ghost town to do the shoot.  Remember I said it was January?…and that I got to do whatever I wanted?…well take note of what she was wearing….for 5 hours!…with very little heat in an abandoned building.  Can you say AWESOME!!!

The other great part is that my good friend Wei of Photobolic came shooting with me.  3 photographers hanging out and shooting for a day is loads of fun (at least to us hahaha)  If you’re in need of a truly talented wedding photographer take yourself on over to his site and soak it up!

Yep, I even got her to lie on the freezing cold floor.

And then it got dark so out came the lights.

A couple days later we took a drive out to Banff for the day for a girlie hang out day full of sight seeing, fun, laughs…and of course some more images.

Sweet baby Solana will be making her debut in 5 days (on the 15th of april) and I’m so excited to meet her!!!
