…and of course their sweet big brother (who I also had the pleasures of photographing), and their awesome Mom & Dad. This was the first set of twins that I’ve captured memories of, and it couldn’t have gone better in my opinion. If there were any twins out there that could make having identicals look easy….well these were the two. They really did make my job easy with their content little selves and their pure innocence. <3

Yellowknife Sandpits

When she said those words, I almost peed myself with excitement! She, being Miss Tanya Ashley, who is also a photographer and lives up in Yellowknife. I was there visiting my wonderful family in July and also had the opportunity to photograph a wedding while there as well (that blog post will be coming soon). Anyway, going back to the sandpits reference….I used to spend a LOT of my high school years there…..either taking our dog to let him run or just hanging out with friends, but mostly 4×4′ing (that’s what I called it….off roading, four wheel driving…..whatever you want to call it). Sand, water, mud and loads of fun. Of all the times I’ve been back to Yellowknife after moving away 8 years ago, I don’t think the sandpits is one place I’ve visited once. SAD!….it definitely has a special place in my heart and I couldn’t have been happier when Tanya suggested to have her family photographed there. The night was warm, the bugs were few (you don’t understand how grateful I was for that!) and the light was super sweet. I’ll let the images speak for themselves……

Hay River Hotness…Calgary Family Photographer

Well, if I must say so myself….if it’s possible for a family to be hot, this family is it.
Living in Hay River, NWT for 2 years has me knowing many people who live there still. This client is cousins with a girl who was in my sisters grade back when I was in Grade 8 (oh how so very long ago that seems!) I LOVE getting emails from clients that have found me through word of mouth and for some strange reason there is always an instant awesome connection that seems to be brought forth because of the North.
While they were on vacation this summer, they took a few hours out of their plans to meet with me in Edmonton so we could shoot in a location that I’ve been wanting to photographer ever since the Jesh Workshop that I attended 2.5 years ago.
A beautiful day mixed with gorgeous people who truly brought themselves to this session, it couldn’t have gone better.

Oh, and when the Lady GaGa glasses came out I kind of went gaga myself! lol Although, to me, she totally resembled Miley Cyrus!

Ok, seriously, do you not love this baby’s onesie?!! I fell in love with it the minute I saw what it said….and even more so, loved that fact that Mom and Dad wanted to photograph their daughter in it! So awesome. This session was completely laid back and couldn’t have gone more smoothly. Mom and Dad didn’t hold back in showing the love they felt for their new addition and this little babe just took it all in.
The light wasn’t completely on my side, but we worked with what we had. I ended up shooting 75% of this session in their kitchen!! Turned out to be a wonderful afternoon.

I couldn’t help but share a couple of these images from my session today with the stunning Julie Miller of Jewel Image here in Calgary. When Julie asked me a few months back to shoot her family I couldn’t have been more excited. A session for another photographer can be a little nerve wracking, but super rewarding at the same time. Julie showed up looking super hot with her clan of handsome men! Look how sweet Julie had everyone dressed, check ‘em out! More to come soon. Thanks again guys for a fabulous afternoon!

On a gorgeous evening earlier this week I headed out with local wedding photographer Johnny Tran of JT Images to shoot him and his awesome family! (oh, and we can’t forget their 2 weiner dogs!…you’ll see them later). We started off with sushi for dinner (thanks guys!) and then a fun evening hanging out in the sweet light. Here’s one for now. :)

Even dressed up in a tutu, lookin’ all purty for picture day, this is Hannah. The little things she does, her personality, all shining through. Sometimes parents don’t want their kids to do the normal things they do every day during a session. For me, I truly love it, all the little things they do are so much a part of who they are. As adults, sometimes we have a hard time truly being ourselves, children do this so well. They are who they are. So precious.

I think this little girlie was the smallest newborn I’ve gotten to photograph. I think she maybe has the most hair too. Another thing, for being so tiny, and so new, she gave me some eye contact that you just don’t get with a baby this young, pure awesomness!! Here she is in all her sweetness! Thank you guys for a wonderful afternoon.
