Grain is something that often accompanies images taken using natural light. Grain is just as it sounds, it looks like there is grain within the print and it is not totally completely smooth. Why is there grain with natural light and not studio….well I have to use different settings to allow as much light into the camera as possible in order to get a correctly exposed photo (not too dark and not too bright) as possible. A studio photographer doesn’t use the same settings since they can adjust the brightness of their lights. These different settings are what causes grain on an image.
Ok, enough of the tech talk. One of my recent sessions was held during a snowy gloomy day….so in turn the images all have some grain. Personally, I really like grain! I love that gritty look especially in b/w prints! Grain has somewhat become part of my style and I love it! Here’s some of the images taken during that session.
These 2 were so sweet! Little Miss "S" was happy and content while Big Brother "S" was full of energy and would have loved for me to just stay and play all day. Thanks for sharing your Kinder Egg with me Big Brother "S"!
