That’s right, their whole wedding was a surprise to everyone but them! I must say, it was beyond fun to be a part of their awesome day. More to come soon.

When she said those words, I almost peed myself with excitement! She, being Miss Tanya Ashley, who is also a photographer and lives up in Yellowknife. I was there visiting my wonderful family in July and also had the opportunity to photograph a wedding while there as well (that blog post will be coming soon). Anyway, going back to the sandpits reference….I used to spend a LOT of my high school years there…..either taking our dog to let him run or just hanging out with friends, but mostly 4×4′ing (that’s what I called it….off roading, four wheel driving…..whatever you want to call it). Sand, water, mud and loads of fun. Of all the times I’ve been back to Yellowknife after moving away 8 years ago, I don’t think the sandpits is one place I’ve visited once. SAD!….it definitely has a special place in my heart and I couldn’t have been happier when Tanya suggested to have her family photographed there. The night was warm, the bugs were few (you don’t understand how grateful I was for that!) and the light was super sweet. I’ll let the images speak for themselves……

For those of you who know me well…..well, you know I completely suck at blogging. If you didn’t know, now you do.
With that said, scrolling down, you can also see that the only thing on here in the last….forever….has been my own children, my life. Don’t get me wrong, I love my clients and value them immensely, but I guess in the reality of things, it’s my children…them, the whole reason I even do what I do, are still the inspiration that push and drive me. Sooooo, here once again is one of the best parts of my life.
Kiella

She is growing up, I know this every day, but today was even more apparent than other days.
Different than a birthday, and different than starting Kindergarten or Grade One….different, at least for me. The last day of school is tomorrow….the last day in the school she has gone to for the past seven years…the last day of grade six at Big Rock School….forever. Now, the path to Junior High awaits, just around the corner.
She has matured so much. She is so beautiful and caring, so intelligent and becoming so independent. I love her laugh and I love her smile. I love the creative things she says to me and the way that she says them. I love our girl talks and questions about life, questions about growing up, and yes, even questions about boys. :) She really is becoming a stunning young woman.
Her grade six graduation was tonight….a night filled with family, friends and laughter….a night that she won’t ever forget.
I am so proud….of who she is, of who she is becoming and of who she wants to be. I am so thankful for her, to have her in my life and am so lucky to call her my daughter.
I love her.

Yes, that is correct, I will be in Yellowknife in less than a month and am offering something I never have before, mini sessions at a hugely discounted rate. If you are interested in booking a session I’d love to hear from you.
**Please note that newborn sessions are still available with the purchase of the full set of digital files and will be offered at the full rate.
