Everything was beautiful this day….from the scenic, peaceful drive out to canmore and the amazing weather to the gorgeous mommy to be. Here’s just a couple from this shoot for now.

- oh my. the mountains. the light. the beautiful mama. I can't wait to see more!
- honestly, i feel like all i ever do is go to your blog and hope you've posted something new. you're one of the best photographers i know and you post the least and it breaks my heart. i love these two images. simply gorgeous and you couldn't be setting her (and sweet baby) in a more serene setting.
- I agree! I always look forward to any new blog post you do. Beautiful light, beautiful images!
- Beautiful, as always :)
i am addicted….
…to my iphone and to shakeitphoto!!!!….and chocolate, chai tea lattes, and pineapple….and the list goes on! hahaha
The frost outside this morning, along with the fog, completely drew me. Every day I drive the same route as I take the kids to school. I often notice the trees and point them out…..as I just drive right on by. Something urged me to stop today. So after dropping off the kids, I stopped a few times on the way back home to capture some of the awesomeness. (and yes, i have a thing for trees, yes i do!…..but…ONLY as long as they don’t have green leaves on them….they aren’t the same with leaves haha)

2.5 hours later I drove the same route again to pick Kiella up from Kindergarten and by then the sun had come out and everything looked so different!!! So yes, I took more…….all through the car windows! hahaha
- So glad you're an addict, you have the best shakeit photos! this series is beautiful
- Hey Alicia, These are awesome. I too am addicted to shakeitphoto. I am planning to add a post of some of mine from the addictive app as well. great job.
- Hey Leish, O love the winter frostyness (don't think that is a word) of trees in the winter-great job Luv Mom
- Man, you have such an amazing eye for composition and light. Love them!
- i can speak for all of Us when i say .. we need more. more & more & more. so lovely as always.
My Dad is a Geek!…..Calgary Newborn
Ok, seriously, do you not love this baby’s onesie?!! I fell in love with it the minute I saw what it said….and even more so, loved that fact that Mom and Dad wanted to photograph their daughter in it! So awesome. This session was completely laid back and couldn’t have gone more smoothly. Mom and Dad didn’t hold back in showing the love they felt for their new addition and this little babe just took it all in.
The light wasn’t completely on my side, but we worked with what we had. I ended up shooting 75% of this session in their kitchen!! Turned out to be a wonderful afternoon.

- you simply have this great ability to see things and details other people don't.
- Hey Alicia - I am LOVING your photos! Wishing you were in Australia right now. My bubs is due in May... I might just have to have a go at the photos myself :( I would LOVE for you to tho.... but oh well :) Love your work! You're amazing!!!

- Hi Alicia, I'm Vincent from Lo-Mob, I've followed the links from Twitter to your blog. I've spent a great time looking at it. Your photos are great : superb colors, grain, wonderful stories. Plus your blog layout is everything I like on Internet : simple, simple, big pics, long pages, great fonts. Don't change anything, you're close to perfection. I absolutely love the pics of the kids playing in the street (taken at ground level) and the first pics of the Kylin and Danielle part II (these colors are like a holy grail for me). All in all, very inspirational. Thanks for sharing, Vincent
- oh wow these are simply beautiful, everything about these are gorgeous!
- I completely agree with Wei. You are very intuitive and creative. These are simply beautiful.
- brilliant. precious. perfect. You never disappoint : )

Christmas Captures
This year was the quietest Christmas in Calgary I think I’ve ever had. Honestly, I was kind of worried about not flying, or driving 20 hours to Yellowknife, and not having my family come down here. I wasn’t sure what I was going to think Christmas morning when it was just Matt and the kids and I. In the end though, it was great!! I’ve decided to share a few of our memories from Christmas morning.
Kylin has grown up soooooo much this past year. Santa shopped at Aldo for her….which was great…until the boots didn’t fit and I had to explain to the girl working that “no, I don’t have a receipt ’cause it’s from Santa”. Thank you awesome Aldo girl for understanding and refunding the purchase anyway! ![]()
And, as much as Kylin’s grown up, the child in her still shines through…a stuffy can still light up a smile on her face regardless of how old she tries to act.
You see the book she got…. “It’s all about Me!”….yeah, that couldn’t be more perfect for her and friends!!! The only thing she asked for this year was a Chinchilla….ummmm, uh huh, we got it for her….what were we thinking?! I’ll admit he is cute, but caged animals really aren’t my thing.
Our kids open one gift on Xmas Eve…it’s always the same…an ornament for the tree and pajamas. They hope that each year it will be something else…but it never is hahaha. Ok, there may be a slight spin, I think they got house coats one year.
This year, as Daegen was opening his gift on Xmas Eve, he just had to point out that he doesn’t wear pajamas (which he doesn’t, he’s a sleep in undies kind of kid)….good thing I still had half a brain while last minute shopping and thought to get him a house coat again this year.
(he was still unhappy that it was clothes lol) The look of shock on his face in the one image is priceless to me! hahaha
And little miss Kiella….well she thinks she’s 10 just like her big sister…all she wanted for Xmas this year was a booster seat for in the car and gym clothes! What the wha???…what 5 yr old do you know asks for things like that for Xmas?! She got shoes, boots, clothes, nail polish, and loads of jewelry and couldn’t have been happier. When Santa got her a doll at the Xmas party…she cried!!! Crazy girl!
And the dog, Diesel, doing what he does best….sitting beside something warm! hahaha
Oh, and I can’t forget the light bulb reindeer ornament in the middle, Kiella made that for Matt and I and I heart it so much!! I also got a Diana Mini which kind of took over (ok, so it completely took over!) for the rest of the holiday.
Waiting for some film to come back as we speak so hopefully there is something that turns out and is worth sharing! I’m sure hoping so cause I’ve kind of fallen for that little thing hahaha.
Hope you all had a great holiday and I wish you all the best in the New Year!

- Adorable Xmas morning! We didn't take any photos this year! :( It just slipped by so fast, I was unprepared. But, Holly really wants a dolphin. A real dolphin. It's easier to say "No" to a real dolphin than a chinchilla! LOL!
- I love the one of D. surprising look. =P
- seriously--did you just blog??? :) Glad you did these are fantastic as per usual!!! Love the one of Diesel. I think it's my favorite!!! Merry Christmas Price Family.
- looks like a lovely family Christmas. It is wonderful when, even though they get older the kids still get excited as though they are little again.
- it's about time we saw an update to this blog. well worth the wait!
- so sweet! Makes me wish I took pictures of my own. I always video Christmas morning but these pictures are priceless. I just said the same thing about my oldest- he is growing up so much but Im so grateful he still like stuffed animals and little boy stuff- It's sort of sad when they turn into teenagers!
Julie and Family
I couldn’t help but share a couple of these images from my session today with the stunning Julie Miller of Jewel Image here in Calgary. When Julie asked me a few months back to shoot her family I couldn’t have been more excited. A session for another photographer can be a little nerve wracking, but super rewarding at the same time. Julie showed up looking super hot with her clan of handsome men!
Look how sweet Julie had everyone dressed, check ‘em out! More to come soon. Thanks again guys for a fabulous afternoon!

- Can you come to Australia and take our family pics :o) LOVE!!
- i can't wait to see the rest of these!! what a rockstar session . they look gorgeous!
- OMG Leish!!! you have outdone yourself! Julie, you look awesome!!! I knew that this session would be KILLER!!!
- WOW! Julie you and your family look awesome! Looooove that first shot!
- This is beautiful. You should be really proud!!!
- I am so grateful to finally have some of my own family photos. It was hard being on the other side of the camera but so worth it. Thanks for giving us some memories. You were so great with the kids. Thanks again.
- Wowsa, beautiful all around!!
- dude! these are so freaking awesome. more more more!!
- Very nice! This was a great session.
- STUNNING shots! Wow - just gorgeous.
- these are gorgeous! love them! :)
- Beautiful pictures! Great job!
13 minute randomness
Lately, my house has been THE house. ALL of the neighbourhood kids are here every night pretty much. From 3/4 yr olds to 16 yr olds! My kids decided to drag some junk out of the garage and build a ramp on the road to ride their bikes on so now it is a free for all I guess lol. It’s like a circus out there some days with all of the kids going in circles, taking turns riding bikes, scooters and skateboards.
I walked outside tonight to check on the kids and couldn’t help but be immediately taken in by the light. So back into the house I went to grab the camera. (and yes….I think I need help….I’m addicted to my 45 TSE (and sun flare). I was warned by a good friend that if I bought this lens that this would happen…..and….well…..he was right. (darn you Gabe! lol))
The first image is what I saw first…but it didn’t work as planned…so I moved onto something else.
A little sun fun, followed by some quick shots of Daegen and then the circus craziness….oh yeah…and as I walked back into the house I snapped a quick one of my reflection in the window. :)

- I love random pictures. Look at all the kids on your block!
- Wow! just Wow! Found your blog today and your work is incredible. Truly inspirational.
- i seriously love how you rock the tilt shift. awesome!!!! :)
- This made me happy!
- Wow, I am so sending Dana Pugh some MAJOR cyber-hugs right now for mentioning you! Love your work, these are awesome!!
- loving the flare! :)
Kylin & Danielle | part two
Yay! Making these images for myself and my daughter has been very rewarding for me. I’m still in love with these so much. ♥♥♥

- These should make you happy they are lovely!
- Beautiful and so precious...4.5 years until a 10 yr old for me and I'm already scared!
- i absofreakinlutely love every single one of these. they make me feel so lucky to have a little girl to get to watch grow up... kylin is going to treasure these so...
- These are sweet pictures! I love this location.
- what an absolutely beautiful set of images. Love your style and your processing.
- I ADORE this photoshoot. Especially the black and white of the girls on the door step. Truly beautiful!
Kylin & Danielle – part one
I promised to come back with more images from the session I had with Kylin (and her summer BFF Danielle) that I did with them a few days before she turned the big one zero! Well, I’m doing that, but I’ve run into a bit of an issue. There are seriously way too many images that I love. It has been so long that I’ve really taken my own kids out and just shot. I really, really need to do this more often. (Daegen is next on the list since Kiella seems to grace the blog here and there already) I just can’t seem to take my Mommy goggles off and narrow these down though….sooooo I’m not gonna make myself.
It’s my blog, I can do what I want right?! lol What I will do though is split them up into 2 separate posts (now to decide which to post today and which to post another day! haha)
We made a whole afternoon/evening out of this session. The girls and I left Calgary later in the afternoon and took a little road trip to a little teeny town north east of Strathmore. (all in the search of a gas pump that I wanted to shoot the girls with!…I never did find it lol)
Anyone who knows me well, knows that I have a thing for images with old vehicles lately. I was thrilled when we came across these junkers
They were super filthy (and had broken glass all over the place) but the girls didn’t complain (too much) when I convinced them to hop inside. Yay!

- I really like them! Good job!
- ahhh...the images in the cars are ADORABLE! nostalgic sweetness, she's going to remember this day this way thanks to you.
- These are so awesome!!
- love. love love love. can't wait to see part two!
- Awesome pics Leish. Kylin looks too comfortable behind the wheel!
- Love these! They must feel *totally* cool for having been photographed by you -awesome. Her hair looks so great -so grown up!
- these are absolutely fabulous! You are right, so many awesome ones. She (and you! ) will treasure these always. Love them.
- i love these pics tee hee
Drew
I had a great time during this session! I wasn’t sure what to expect at first since it was so different from what I normally do but I think it turned out really well. This session really was just like any other session in the sense that Drew wanted images of him, who he is right now at this time of his life. I think that is so awesome!!

- love all the bike shots. wish there were more!
- awesome work Alicia! Glad you didn't get run over by the bike handlebars lol
- alicia...i am SO IMPRESSED. what a sentiment--this gorgeous day in his life and you archived it so well. i feel like i want you to shoot something like this for me someday (soon?) and i hope you get more jobs like this. it seems more meaningful than a simple portrait. much more.
- I love the idea of photo story, it is so interesting to know more and more about the person from the photos! And of course, colors and light, perfect!
- what a fun shoot. love the vivid colors in the bar especially.
- These are all amazing! The angles, the colours the conversions...I love how your style has really taken a huge leap over the past year. Beautiful work!!
- Alicia, what great work you do! I love that he wanted photos of himself. Love the post processing on these!!
- Great! I so wish more people would think to have themselves photographed, just to capture how they are at a time in their lives -good for him & great capture by you!
